Our design studio is seeking an Interior Designer with 5+ years of professional experience to join our highly motivated team of designers who are creating thoughtful, and unique destination experiences. This is not a traditional design firm. We may be formal in presentations, documentation, and detailing, but this is a casual work environment. The ideal candidate is extremely creative, communicative, and collaborative; willing to roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done, support the team and the project.

Here at R O H E, we typically produce 100% design development drawing sets in-house. As required, we partner with architects and other consultants local to the project to produce construction documents. We also provide and customize highly detailed millwork, furniture and lighting drawings, and FF&E specifications. The Interior Designer is integral to this process and we are looking for you to contribute in the following ways;

JOB DESCRIPTION + REQUIREMENTS   

  • Masters/ Bachelors of Interior Design or Architecture
  • 5 to 8 years of professional design experience. (Hospitality/Commercial Design experience is preferred)
  • Highly Proficient in AutoCAD or Revit
  • Fluent in Specification Writing: Finishes and FF&E
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Google, and Adobe Suites (Photoshop, InDesign) 
  • Knowledge of Sketch-UpSpexx, Exxpedite and Asana Task Management, and Project Management Software - a plus! 
  • Extensive knowledge in FF&E Sourcing; New and Vintage.
  • Fluent in space planning and developing drawings through all phases of a project; Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction.
  • Strong Design Presentation + Representation skills; Mood Boards, FF&E Boards, Concept Planning + Sketching. Must be highly effective at communicating design concepts and narratives, both visually and verbally.
  • Work closely with Owner/Creative Director to establish design visions, concepts and narratives for the project.
  • Work closely with Principal Designer & Senior Designer to establish proper documentation and detailing of designs.
  • Must be comfortable communicating and coordinating directly with our hospitality clients such as; Chefs, Restaurateurs, Retailers, Owners + Operation Teams.
  • Must be comfortable communicating and coordinating with project consultants throughout the project timeline such as; lighting, food service, AOR, engineering, and branding design teams. 
  • Must have experience with the Construction Administration phase of a project and be comfortable communicating directly with General Contrators, Project Managers, and Owners. Must be comfortable with visiting construction sites in order to provide design solutions in the field and maintain the overall design intent of the project. 
  • Must be comfortable working with budgets and deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable working with purchasing agents, custom fabricators, and hospitality vendors. 
  • Manage all Furniture, Finish, and Lighting (FF&E) documentation and specification writing for your specific projects. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects (up to 3) in different design phases.
  • Experience with purchasing and procurement, a plus! 
  • Experience with styling and photography, a plus!
  • Love of storytelling, a plus!
  • Love of Vintage, a plus!
