STIR Architecture is seeking a qualified candidate for an Intermediate Architectural Designer – a fulltime position with the LOS ANGELES office.

Headquartered on South Broadway in The Historic Core BID of Los Angeles with offices in Amsterdam and Manila, STIR Architecture LLP works with developers, local governments, community groups and consultants on the critical issues that are reshaping our world.   • Are you a problem solver with a passion for design with the professional experience to carry out innovative and effective designs for Commercial/Retail, Mixed Use, Adaptive Re-use and Higher Education Projects?
  • Are you motivated and focused and can listen, manage multiple tasks in planning, programming, design and technical tasks working with principals, peers and mentor younger staff?
  • Do you have visual, verbal and written communication skills to work with stakeholders both within the organization and others outside?
  • Do you want to work in a dynamic team that is small enough to offer significant individual responsibility but with others in Europe and Asia?

Primary Objectives:

  • Assist the Partner, Senior Associate and Project Manager to develop and realize the articulated project management and design strategy in an effective and persuasive manner in various digital and print media, for use in the project design meetings, other presentations and marketing.
  • Collaborate with the project team leaders, peers and mentor less experienced staff.


  • Professional Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or both at undergraduate, masters or higher level.
  • Minimum 3 year professional experience.
  • NCARB file holder currently working toward professional licensure in California. LEED AP preferred.
  • Architectural experience and interest in Higher Education, Commercial/Retail, Mixed-Use and Adaptive Reuse projects.
  • Ability to collaborate and develop, edit, communicate and present established project design concepts either in person or via desktop sharing.
  • Ability to work on more than one project at the same time as project schedules change regularly.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit Required both as a design tool and technical tool, with familiarity with BIM 360, AutoCAD preferred and other related 3D Modelling software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required. MS Teams a plus.
  • Interest in learning higher level analytical and problem solving, as well as bringing a passion for creative design.
  • Capability of clear verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States long term.
