The San Francisco, CA office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team. 

Working with us, you will:

  • Lead the next-generation holistic designs for healing and safe environments for patients, families, physicians, and staff across a spectrum of healthcare project-types.
  • Responsible for the big-picture design concepts that will guide project interior development.
  • Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.
  • Lead concepts, planning, and development of interior architectural design solutions.
  • Lead client presentations, visioning sessions and user meetings.
  • Manage projects, including negotiating and management of project scope, schedule and fees, job production and quality.
  • Be responsible for interior team meeting project deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate FF&E, materials and products materials.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and complete contract document packages.
  • Lead construction administration including responding to RFI’s, preparing sketches and addendums, and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list. 
  • Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards and details.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
  • Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
  • Will contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.

 

The ideal candidate has:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent. 
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.   
  • Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
  • LEED AP preferred.
  • Experience in planning and designing public spaces for healthcare.
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AutoCAD programs.

We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
