KTGY, one of the country’s most successful residential architecture practices, has recently established new roots in the heart of DTLA.  With a focus on complex, urban infill mixed-use projects and high-density multi-family solutions, the firm is consistently pushing the boundaries of possibilities within the residential space.  KTGY LA actively creates thoughtful design solutions for our clients that result in long-lasting, sustainable communities and we’re looking for talented designers that are enthusiastic about contributing to the studio’s success.

The LA studio is currently looking to hire a Senior Designer who has 4-7 years of experience in both mixed-use and multi-family design and is passionate about solving complex design problems while pushing the boundaries of construction innovation.  Building upon one of its core values of sustainability, KTGY has joined the AIA 2030 Challenge and is looking for like-minded, creative team members that are interested in pursuing their passion about sustainability with our talented and highly collaborative team.


  • Lead communication and coordination efforts with clients and consultant team.
  • Establish design concepts for urban housing projects at various scales.
  • Manage projects and lead others.
  • Assist in technical aspects to ensure design integrity.
  • Perform preliminary code analysis.
  • Compile and submit projects to city planning departments.
  • Attend public hearings and agency meetings as necessary.
  • Review and participate in project billings.
  • Consistently verify accuracy of own work and the work of others.
  • Educate and mentor junior staff.
  • Contribute to budget and scheduling review meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Effectively communicate with and lead a project team including taking direction, giving direction, and asking questions.
  • Anticipate and solve design issues creatively.
  • Understanding of the Owner / Architect contract and KTGY’s Scope of work.
  • Actively pursue licensure and exam process.
  • Continuously strive to improve knowledge by keeping updated on industry trends and competitor practices.
  • Display positive attitude about the work to be done, co-workers, clients, management, and firm policies.
  • Show initiative by being proactive and taking prompt action to accomplish objectives.
  • Participate as an active and contributing member of a team to achieve team goals and work cooperatively with other team members.
  • Use creativity and imagination to develop new insights into situations and apply new solutions to problems. 


  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Ability to research and learn various codes and ordinances
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain effective communication and quality control
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, direct work of self and others
  • Basic understanding and proficiency using the following software:
    • Autocad and/or Revit (Revit preferred)
    • SketchUp
    • Adobe Suite
    • MS Office


  • At least 4-7 years of industry experience


  • 4-year Architectural degree preferred and/or combination of required education and experience.
  • Intermediate understanding of building codes, including national and state local codes.
  • Specialized knowledge of various housing types, code requirements, and construction practices and how to apply, detail, and specify them.
