We are looking for a qualified and passionate candidate that is experienced in retail & hospitality design to join our team.  We are a rapidly growing specialty coffee company with the goal of doubling our retail locations in Southern California by 2022 before expanding to new markets. Our obsession with the highest quality coffee pushes us to build iconic cafes and unique hospitality models that serve neighborhoods and inspire human connection.    

In this position you will be responsible for leading multiple projects simultaneously from schematic design through construction documentation with guidance from the design/build team.  Our objective is for every location to be a unique innovative architectural experience, though we are continually streamlining and refining the service model for brand consistency and efficiency.  As a designer for GGET it is critical that you balance design exploration with the functional service standards to create holistic designs for servers and customers.

What will I do?

  • Work with the team to establish & develop design concepts for new & second generation cafe locations 

  • Work with the team to develop the program and space plans

  • Generate 3d representations of multiple design schemes through iterative processes.

  • Coordinate with GGET Culinary & Retail Operations for consistency of programmatic standards.

  • Coordinate with design & engineering consultants as needed for project documentation & permitting.

  • Develop the required drawing documentation for project specific permitting.

  • Engage with local agencies throughout the design and permitting process. 

  • Create and maintain the project manual and specifications

  • Research new materials and applications for projects.

  • Work with vendors to develop custom products & finishes.

  • Research & test new FF&E solutions. 


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design.

  • Proficiency with Revit(required), Autocad, 3d design software, Adobe & Bluebeam. 

  • Excellent working knowledge of building codes, and ADA standards for accessible design.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skills.

  • Proficiency creating technical drawings that succinctly, thoroughly and accurately represent the project

  • Previous experience in retail & hospitality design on the client side of business is a plus.
