John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects (JFAK) is looking for a Marketing & Communications Director to lead, develop, and execute the firm’s marketing and public relations strategies, and to work collaboratively as part of the firm’s leadership to create business development materials and to curate the firm’s brand.

About JFAK:
Founded in 1996, JFAK is a boutique architecture firm located in the heart of DTLA’s Arts District. JFAK creates architecture that communicates and inspires, expresses identity, and encourages social interaction. The firm’s work spans schools, university research and activity centers, commercial ventures, custom homes and multifamily housing, and public space installations. JFAK’s projects have been widely published and internationally recognized for their material and sustainable intelligence, as well as for their spatial fluidity, quality of light, and social significance.

The Opportunity:
JFAK is seeking a Marketing & Communications Director to support the growth of the full range of its projects. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in architecture and design and a demonstrated talent for marketing and communications. This position is hands-on and the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the creation of proposals and other marketing materials. This person will be expected to:

  • Establish and execute public relations strategies to generate positive coverage across various media platforms for JFAK’s projects, events, and personnel
  • Maintain internal and external marketing resources (awards, conference, editorial calendars)
  • Manage award submittals and surveys
  • Assist with presentations and interview preparation
  • Manage and update social media websites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Ensure that JFAK’s message and brand strategy are appropriate for various audiences
  • Keep current marketing collateral and project database
  • Coordinate, design, and distribute ongoing newsletters and/or email blasts
  • Assist in coordinating new project photography
  • Manage all activities related to documentation of the firm's work through Photography, Film, and Video
  • Provide oversight on the execution of all graphic and written assets of the firm (print + digital) adhering to firm’s graphic standards
  • Manage the proposal process and submissions, including drafting proposals and preparing responses to RFQ’s and RFP’s:
  • Manage production schedule in terms of scope, priorities, timelines, and resource availability
  • Coordinate with subconsultants
  • Keep team organized and updated on project status
  • Work collaboratively with the firm’s leadership to track RFQ/RFPs

The ideal candidate has:

  • Excellent written, oral, and design communication skills and the ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven, quality-focused environment
  • Experience developing compelling graphic presentations and engaging proposal documents with an eye for graphic style and quality, creative enthusiasm, and photography skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • A degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Architecture, Design, or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in coordination and preparation of marketing materials for a professional service company (AEC industry or related a plus)

This is a full-time position. Must possess all legal permits and visas required to work in the U.S. and be a Los Angeles area resident. Fluency in written and spoken English required.
