The Virtual Environment Manager is responsible for organizing and executing efforts for the continuous maintenance of digital plans, models, and space database for all property occupied by UPHS. The position also serves as subject matter expert in the design, construction, and acquisition of virtual environment documentation for all UPHS construction projects. The virtual environment is represented by, but no limited to the Building Information Model (BIM), digital assets, as-builts, laser scanning, software interfaces, and host servers. Working under limited supervision, the Virtual Environment Manager services a critical role within the REDC team, and may supervise and advise other team members, as well as acting as a resource for both internal entity-based constituents and external vendors. 

Accountabilities

  • Integral in implementing QAQC and up-front requirements of BIM models, to be executed and delivered by outside firms in the design and construction of UPHS projects
  • Owner representation in the creation, implementation, and acceptance of the BIM Execution Plan
  • Key figure in BIM asset information development
  • Develop specifications needed to accept project digital documentation
  • Coordinate effort when laser scanning of existing HUP infrastructure is needed
  • Integral participant in coordination effort to ensure interoperability of BIM dependent software platforms
  • Provide input regarding Host Server needs
  • Maintain current occupancy records of all UPHS space via the Space Database
  • Provide support to REDC Team Members in the final recording of projects, and confirmation of current state of space
  • Support RED&C leadership team in other duties as assigned.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Minimum Requirements: Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in Architecture, Engineering, or related technical profession
  • 10+ years of BIM modeling experience
  • 10+ years of Design and/or construction experience 

    Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project, as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Deskto/Revit/Bluebeam Revu and other BIM formats as needed
  • Ability to use e-Builder
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects while meeting project deadlines
  • Ability to navigate a political landscape with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills
