KoningEizenberg is a Santa Monica based team of architects, planners and designers that actively engage social and physical context to make architecture that counts by amplifying opportunities hiding in plain sight. We are looking for a motivated person to lead our marketing team and actively contribute to the firm’s growth strategy while not shying away from jumping in, getting his/her hands dirty and executing the work.

Job Summary

This position works with the leadership group (Principals and Senior Associates) to chart the direction of the firm’s marketing strategy to ensure its success in serving operational and strategic goals.

 The Director of Marketing will:

  • Plan, direct, and implement marketing operations, strategies, and communications firm-wide

  • Develop brand strategy in collaboration with firm leadership and ensure brand consistency throughout all external marketing deliverables, campaigns, messaging and graphics

  • Coordinate the promotion of firm-wide achievements and initiatives via public relations, social media, and company website

  • Manage the pursuit of new business process (RFQ/P), crafting, writing, and submitting proposals

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day, tactical efforts (with some graphic support)

 Primary Responsibilities

 Brand Strategy

  • Develop, implement, and measure the success of the brand message and firm position with regard to:

    • Website & Social Media

    • Graphic Branding

    • Distributed Collateral

  • Coordinate the appearance of all print and electronic materials, including use of logo, firm colors, etc.

  • Articulate the Firm’s image and position, achievements, and goals and assure the consistent communication of this brand to all internal and external constituencies

Public Relations

  • Identify relevant publications and opportunities (including events) for firm/advocate positioning

  • Leverage project and personnel strengths in local, regional, national, and international press toward strategic recognition goals

  • Coordinate and create quarterly e-blasts through Mailchimp


Provide counsel regarding the evaluation of project opportunities with the leadership group

Leads tracking with coordination with the leadership team

Develop content, craft and write proposal and qualification packages and coordinate submissions

QA/QC all pursuit materials

Develop interview materials and prepare/rehearse team members as needed

Conferences & Events

  • Track annual conferences and events in coordination with the leadership team

  • Lead client appreciation and outreach initiatives

  • Engage thought leaders in the development of targeted abstracts, speaking opportunities, and conference-related activities

  • Develop any collateral or graphics (banners, leave-behind brochures, etc.) as needed

Marketing Infrastructure

  • Design, engage, monitor the effectiveness of, and oversee updates to the internal CRM database, including project data, personnel data, achievements, campaigns, and business development tracking information

Budgeting & Business Planning

  • Engage with the leadership team to develop a 2- and 5-year marketing strategic plan

  • Define short-term marketing organizational goals and budgets (<18 months) and report on progress to the leadership group

  • Monitor and manage marketing budgets 

  • Monitor and maintain annual and quarterly marketing calendars and coordinate tasks with leadership

 Thought Leadership

  • Engage in key topic research and white paper/speaking engagement development for identified thought leaders in the firm

  • Identify and track venues for featuring topic research and leaders on the local, regional, and national levels

 Internal Branded Environment & Staff/Office Promotion

  • Develop, launch, and monitor all in-house graphics (project updates, awards, publications display, and entryway features)

  • Promote project and personnel achievements 

Award Submissions

  • Prepare award submissions, organize image library, prepare final project photography in various sizes and formats, keep track of deadlines, prompt others for information needed and ensure timely delivery of final materials


  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design and execution of integrated marketing communications plans and elements

  • Ability to identify unique, marketable elements in firm-wide assets

  • Ability to engage multiple stakeholders on several levels at one time

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with consistency on tight deadlines

  • Commitment to working with cross-functional teams
