Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work together with project principals to prepare fee/scope proposals and contracts.  Monitor ongoing project scope and schedule and develop additional service requests when needed.
  • Prepare detailed internal project staffing work plans/schedules.  Actively manage and periodically report on project performance.
  • Work directly with clients as our main point of communication for both design and contractual issues.  Serve as the conduit of communication to both the internal team and consultants
  • Work directly with zoning, building code, and other regulatory agencies to achieve project approvals and permitting.  This would include code research and development of strategies towards addressing unique challenges that may occur on specific projects.
  • Direct and supervise senior design and technical staff to advance both the design and technical aspects of projects at all phases of design.  This would include building envelope review and periodic back check to ensure project program compliance with Owner requirements. 
  • Work with contractors on budget and schedule issues.  Manage implementation of value engineering into project documentation.
  • Provide leadership in coordination with other engineers and consultants
  • Provide management of client and consultant coordination, including meeting notes, agenda, and project documentation.  Ensure that all project information is organized in compliance with office standards in a manner that allows time efficient archive retrieval by others.
  • Manage the project team through the construction phase ensuring compliance with both office and industry standards relative to RFIs, Submittals, Field Reports, etc..

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Minimum of 15 years of experience working in architecture

  • A professional degree in architecture

  • Professional Licensure as an Architect

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the California Building Code, International Building Code, and ADA Standards for Accessible Design

  • Working knowledge of AIA standard contracts and legal standards of care for architectural services

  • LEED AP or demonstrated progress towards accreditation preferred.

  • Ability to contribute as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary project team on both design and construction documentation.  Experience working on complex commercial projects is a preferred.

  • Strong verbal, graphic and design skills

  • Self-motivated, reliable, and outgoing

  • Legal authorization to work in the US with fluent English skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project is mandatory.  Familiarity with Revit and presentation graphics software such as Sketchup and Adobe Creative Suite.  Comfort level with digital tools is a must.
