Position Overview: SVA Interior Design is seeking an educator with experience in 3D modeling software to join our award-winning faculty. The position posting is for two Undergraduate 3rd Year Course Electives, Design Visualization, and Advanced Design Visualization, Fall 2018, Spring 2019. Each course spans 1 semester and meets three (3) hours per session for fifteen (15) sessions.

Instructor - Design Visualization

Fall 2018 semester: 3 studio credits Posted for Fall 2018, Design Visualization will explore the 3D visualization programs and skills essential to the development and presentation of advanced projects. The course focuses on building one model throughout the semester to become familiar with using Autodesk 3ds Max as a tool. The basics of modeling, lighting, materials and rendering are covered.

Instructor – Advanced Design Visualization

Spring 2019 semester: 3 studio credits Posted for Spring 2019, Advanced Design Visualization is designed to help students communicate their architectural designs by exploring advanced rendering techniques using the V-Ray rendering engine, camera matching, and compositing Photoshop. Emphasis is placed on the production workflow setting up an efficient production pipeline consisting of AutoCAD, Autodesk 3ds Max, V-Ray and Adobe Photoshop.


  • B.A. or its equivalent in interior design, architecture or a related field
  • College-level teaching experience
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Suite (3ds Max), Vray, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with drafting construction documents
