Rivers & Christian is an established practice spanning Architecture, Interiors, Planning, and Project Management. We are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced Job Captain to join our team.

The Practice:

With over thirty seven years of experience and project presence in every major airport in the State of California, and several nationally, the professionals of Rivers & Christian are experts in providing architectural services to the aviation industry.  Recent projects include long range terminal master planning, retail, technology improvement projects, major terminal renovation and expansion projects as well as ground up general aviation facilities.  We have an extensive portfolio of commercial projects, with a special focus on Type I buildings.

The Position:


Eight or more years of experience, licensed or unlicensed architect with diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques and has responsibility for finished plans, specifications and material approval. May supervise a small staff of architects and technicians.


  • Responsible for finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction.
  • Applies sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields.
  • Acts independently regarding architectural methods and complexities.
  • Requires use of advanced techniques and modification/extension of theories, precepts, and practices of individual’s field.
  • May supervise a small staff of architects and technicians. Supervisions and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. 

Experience & Requirements:

  • Professional degree in Architecture (required).
  • Proficiency in Revit (required).
  • Project experience in schematic design through construction administration on commercial (Type I) projects.
  • Previous experience with consultant coordination, project scheduling, technical detailing, and specification research.
  • Previous experience as liaison between stakeholders and owner representatives. 
  • Abilities in 3D visualization.
  • Professional License or progress towards obtaining one is HIGHLY desirable.
  • LEED AP and/or PMP is a plus.
