The study developed along the dissertation proposes an analysis of the industrial city of Covilhã and its influence on the organization and consolidation of the existing urban consolidations, considering the problems of decommissioning and consequent abandonment of old industrial buildings, which today perpetuates the city voids and vacant spaces . To do this there will be an initial analysis and historical concerning the context  of the industrial cities in the world, including some models of urban structures and organization that had more impact on the development level of urbanism and architecture in the consideration of industrial cities.

Questioning the fact of where sustainability fits in the rehabilitation of industrial space nowadays, the dissertation transports to a case study (dyeing Petrucci - Covilhã) knowledge and considerations reported throughout the study, defining a program aimed at the renovation of space and its adapting characteristics concerning a program for a center of intelligence (business incubator), where it is possible to develop activities and broadly diversified, where each company or working group enjoys a personal space that is part of a collective and a sense of cooperation and functional unit.
