I am Jiajun Chen, an architecture student in MAAS program of USC. As an architecture student, the meaning of architectural design for me is to provide human a better life. Architecture is not all about an attractive appearance. A good architecture must serves human rather than being served by human. A comfortable interior space which is suitable to human’s behaviors is the most important element of a good architecture. For me, I will adhere to the concept of people-oriented design to give people a more convenient life. Recently, I am more interested in sustainable design and healthcare.

As an intern, I worked in gad China which is an architectural design company. And I served as an architecture design intern in design department. During the period of my internship, I participated in the projects of Dongziguan Affordable Housing and Yin Ju Jiang Nan. Dongziguan Affordable Housing won the Dezeen Awards 2018. Based on the internship, I learned related government policies and procedures of construction project. Through assisting those experienced architect, I got the difference of architecture design between a school and a real design company. In reality, We always need to get a balance point between existing limitation and our ideal concept.

I got my first internship at the architectural design institute of Zhejiang University which is an architectural design company. I assisted in making preliminary construction scheme of specific projects and composing the final report. Cooperating and communicating with departments of Water Supply and Drainage, H.V.A.C, etc with regard to project details. Also, I made models and produced some rendering images.
