JGMA has been working closely with Thor Equities to design this unique 9-story office building, located at the confluence between Chicago’s West Loop historic district and innovation district. The design merges both a respect of the past and an office building that looks forward to the future. The massing also takes excuse from the neighboring context where the floors are intentionally pulled apart horizontally to align with the 2-story existing building to the west. This subtractive approach also occurs within the building façade, breaking the scale of the building down to digestible parts in plan, elevation, and section.
