Cultural Center for Remembrance

I designed this building and its program with the goal of establishing an outlet between the site’s surrounding cultural isolation and the rich cultural density of downtown Santa Fe. The concept that drives this is the concept of rememberance.

Through mass, silence and light, inhabitants are persuaded to reflect over the cultural identity of Santa Fe and their place within it. This is paired with a workshop which allows locals and artists and residence to populate the site-wide sculpture park with their representation of Santa Fe identity.
The idea of inward reflection is embodied through its unpenetrated exterior walls, indirect lighting and natural daylighting from above. It’s simplistic design language allows it to be more of a canvas for the art shown across the landscape than a focus itself.
