Jasper Kim — Landscape Architectural Designer
As a passionate Landscape Architectural Designer, my philosophy is to create spaces that convey the designer's message while providing functionality and comfort. I am committed to preserving our planet for future generations by challenging the status quo and striving for sustainable environments that blend nature and urban spaces.
Inspired by Biophilia - the human tendency to love and interact with nature - I aim to enhance urban infrastructure with natural elements, promoting physical health and emotional well-being. During my studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I developed methods to connect people with nature in ways that respect the environment, gaining experience in a variety of projects from hardscape-focused designs to eco-friendly initiatives.

While studying landscape architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I have developed the way how to convey the intention and meaning of landscape designers and architects by connecting people with nature in ways that respect and honor the environment. I have gained experience in various projects, ranging from small-scale initiatives to team projects, and from hardscape-focused designs to eco-friendly.
Furthermore, during my college period, I founded the 'KARD (Architecture & Design)' Association, officially registered it as a student club at our college, and led the club as the president. The association represented students from the architecture-related departments and the FAA college. I created and provided AutoCAD and Photoshop tutorial videos on my own for freshmen and non-major students who are interested in architecture and design. Through various individual and team projects, I promoted communication and interaction between different departments (Architecture, Civil Engineering, Graphic Design, and more). We also launched an official website (www.karduiuc.org) to provide opportunities for students to feature the extracurricular portfolios, by the profits from club fundraising.
