Adaptive re-use of derelict 1950s standard-model incineration plant scheduled for demolition on NYC waterfront opposite The Standard Hotel & Whitney Museum of Art. Essentially an escapist hospitality resort combined with sacred architecture to create a program of monastic retreat from the chaos of the city, global affairs and governance conference facility (in line with Berggruen Institute, for the meeting of world diplomats and thought leaders between East and West), and public outreach at the lower floors, with art gallery, auditorium and fine-dining restaurant.
Thesis Project: 140,000 sq.ft. featuring 6 floors with two roof greenspaces, internal waterfall staircase, and oculus-lit sanctuary hall. 32 keys, with standard rooms, and 3 suite layouts. Conference & business center amenities, spa/ meditation rooms, library and retail shop.
