My name is Yuan Wen, and I just graduated with Master Degree of Architecture in May, 2015. During my school time, I took a Design & Build studio in summer, 2013, which was the project ReFRAME x FRAME. Me and 7 other members designed and built a sound and light art installation pavilion in the Hermann Park, Houston using disposed office panel system frames. This project got Recognition Award for Keep Houston Beautiful Mayor’s Proud Partner competition and Strategy, Research and Planning Merit Design Award for SEGD Global Design Award. My project was shown on AIA architecture exhibition, Philadelphia 2013. My work had also been collected for school publication 3 times and my graduate thesis project Fibrous Bridge received Honorable Mention Design Award. My community design project gateAway, which was a team work with 4 other members, has been accepted and to be published soon on Thick Infrastructure.

During my study period, I was trying to accumulate more professional experience as well. I had done construction documentation during the project ReFRAME x FRAME, in which we did CD, SD and applied for permit from the city. I also started a 16-month internship in STOA Architects, a local firm in Bellaire district Houston. My primary work included drafting, modeling and rending. I assisted the team on design of multi-family residential, mix-use development, Skate Park, education, master planning etc. I also helped the team to develop compelling presentation package for project proposal as well as construction drawing on a middle school project.

Years of training and study, I have built up a solid foundation of professional knowledge and skills. I’m proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Rhino, Grasshopper, Vray, SketchUp and Microsoft Office. I’m also a quick learner and always try to find better and more efficient way of doing the work. I’m a hard-working person with strong determination to succeed. I’m responsible and diligent to any work I undertake. I work well independently as well as with team especially in a multi-culture and diverse work forces. Through the years of intense study-work life, I’m highly organized with excellent ability to work on multi-task maturely and resourcefully. With my qualification and ability, I believe that I’m able to make positive attribution to your firm.
