About

Imani is an licensed architect with experience primarily in Education, Workplace, and Critical Facilities project types. Prior to moving to Chicago, she received her Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati (UC). While at UC she participated in three co-ops where she gained invaluable internship experience: in San Francisco, Columbus, Ohio, and Chicago.

The intersection of architecture/design and identity as it pertains to social issues has been one of the most appealing topics throughout Imani's academic and professional career and she enjoys sharing her knowledge with and learning from students interested in the profession. Imani is involved in various mentorship programs that have been a tremendous factor in her personal and professional growth, including her position as Mentor and Design Manager for the Project Pipeline Design-Build Program run by the Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (I-NOMA). This is one of the initiatives by I-NOMA to introduce underrepresented, early high school students to the architecture and construction professions by way of a real-life pro-bono project. By partnering with a non-profit organization in need of redesign/reimagining of their facility, a space is redesigned and renovated during a 12-week camp alongside the students. After past successes with Erie Neighborhood House, Chicago Childcare Society, and Action Coalition of Englewood, the program has proven to have a profound impact on the community organizations as well as the students and mentors who participated.

Imani has also served as a mentor for the Chicago ACE Mentorship Program and served on the the Intern Program Leadership Committee for the Gensler North Central Region.
