ID21 worked closely with Collins Aerospace to design an office reflective of its dedication to aviation innovation in Singapore. Dedicated to continually evolving their expertise in the field of aviation, Collins Aerospace wanted to reflect that boldness in their office space - which we managed to convey through an unconventional and sleek office entryway.
The core inspiration for this new office design is an open airfield with various ‘aircraft hangars’ that will act as various work areas for the staff to touchdown for formal and informal meetings or focus work. Similar to a plane turbine engine, each team area has been designed to function as a ‘propeller’ for collaboration and creativity with the department’s lead sitting at its head.
Built around the idea of space optimization to enhance employee well-being, our design focuses on maximizing daylight and the smooth flow of people. We designed user routes that connect different spaces which cater to different needs - from silent work to collaboration and meeting. Fostering cross-functional synergies was also one of the main objectives and was achieved through open and semi-enclosed collaboration zones dedicated to informal touchdown meetings.
Sustainability was prioritized by incorporating greenery indoors with a moss wall and planters along the walkway. We ensured energy efficiency by using lux calculation and sustainably sourced furniture, textures and finishes. Collins Aerospace’s’ brand identity, through the use of bold environmental graphic walls, can be evidently seen.
Collins Aerospace is an energetic brand with motion at its very core, and this has now been embodied in a dynamic work environment. The new floorplate incorporates various work settings, such as fixed and hot desks, as well as focus and collaboration zones for employees to work at their best.
