Revamping a commercial lot into four spacious homes and a retail space, Steel Stacks in Seattle embodies a new sense of community. Providing a suburban feel in an urban context, the homes include porches, backyards, and flexible floor plans that provide a comfortable and attainable living experience in a rapidly evolving city. With the living room at the top level to optimize light and views as well as access to a rooftop deck, the homes combine density with good design. The corten cladding on the exterior is a nod to the Nucor steel plant only half a mile away, honoring the neighborhood's history and industrial roots.
