April 2021 – Hoffmann Architects, an architecture and engineering firm specializing in the rehabilitation of building exteriors, announces that Katherine Ferguson has joined the Virginia office as Business Development Manager.
Katherine M. Ferguson joins Hoffmann Architects as Business Development Manager, responsible for building and sustaining client relationships in Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. A seasoned professional with more than 10 years’ experience leading business development and marketing teams, Ferguson comes to Hoffmann Architects from her position as Director of Marketing and Business Development at MacRostie Historic Advisors (MHA), a national historic preservation tax credit consulting firm. In addition to overseeing business development for MHA’s seven offices, Ferguson created and edited the firm’s quarterly newsletter and wrote articles for industry periodicals on historic tax credit policy. Her previous experience includes roles as Marketing and Communications Manager for the Preservation Society of Charleston and Account Exectuive for Erwin Penland Advertising (now EP+Co). She also founded a multimedia production business that produced podcasts and short documentary films for clients that included the National Trust for Historic Preservation and The Slave Dwelling Project.
Active in the industry and in the community, Ferguson was a Champion Advocate for Attainable Housing with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Affordable Housing Task Force for Charleston County. As a member of the Urban Land Institute, she served on the ULI South Carolina Lowcountry Programs Committee and on the ULI Washington Young Leaders Group Real Estate 101 Committee, organizing and moderating interactive panel discussions for real estate professionals. She is an active member of ULI Washington’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and NEXT programs.
With a Master of Science in Historic Preservation and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Clemson University, Ferguson brings a dual perspective to client relationships, with appreciation for pragmatic considerations alongside an educated understanding of best practices for historic buildings. A respected voice in the industry, she held guest lectureships at the College of Charleston and the University of the District of Columbia, and she has published articles on historic rehabilitation, energy standards and sustainability, affordable housing, and tax credits for historic structures.
Bringing her extensive experience with preservation and historic real estate to her role at Hoffmann Architects, Ferguson demonstrates a passion for supporting building owners through the challenges of restoration, rehabilitation, and building asset management. She lives in Washington, DC.
