January 2019 – Hoffmann Architects, an architecture and engineering firm specializing in the rehabilitation of building exteriors, is pleased to announce the promotion of members of the technical staff.

Tai Mahmuti, PE has been promoted to Project Engineer, in recognition of his advanced credentials, experience, and contributions to the firm. After joining Hoffmann Architects in 2015 as Project Coordinator, he demonstrated an eagerness and capacity for refining his understanding of building enclosure systems, and his precocity earned him a promotion to Senior Project Coordinator in 2017 and to Project Manager later that year. A convivial team member and trusted resource for addressing challenging structural problems, Mahmuti provides engineering services for complex projects, including Scholastic headquarters in SoHo, Bank of New York Mellon at 101 Barclay Street, and Greenwich West, a new development at 110 Charlton Street in Hudson Square. His recent published work includes articles on sidewalk vault safety and storefront rehabilitation in ENR New York, Building Design + Construction  and the Hoffmann Architects JOURNAL. Mahmuti earned an engineering degree from Carleton University in Ontario and is a licensed structural engineer in the State of New York. He lives in Manhattan.

Amanda L. Miller, AIA earned a promotion to Senior Staff Architect, in credit to her increased experience and responsibilities. Miller joined Hoffmann Architects in 2017 as Staff Architect, and, since then, has proven to be a valued project team member. Expanding her knowledge of construction administration, consultant coordination, and code analysis, Miller has been instrumental in designing accessibility solutions for the plazas of Columbia University. In 2018, she was selected for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York Civic Leadership Program, a mentorship and training initiative that offers emerging architectural professionals strategies for civic engagement in design. Miller is also a member of the AIA New York Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and she is co-organizing the 2019 Spaces and Places gathering in Oakland, California. After earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame, Miller completed the master’s degree program in design studies at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where she co-organized the Black in Design 2017 conference. She lives in Astoria, New York.

Richard W. Off, AIA has been recognized with a promotion to Senior Staff Architect, for his knowledge, technical capabilities, and valued contributions to the restoration of historic buildings. After joining Hoffmann Architects in 2016 as Project Representative, Off rapidly earned promotions to Senior Project Representative, Project Coordinator, and Staff Architect. Experienced in investigation, design, and construction administration, Off brings to his work a sensitivity to the concerns of historic buildings and urban settings. His projects include exterior rehabilitation of Countee Cullen Library in Harlem, historic facade restoration and roof replacement at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich Village, and copper roof replacement at the State University of New York at Farmingdale Lupton Hall. A member of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Off earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University. He lives in Washington Heights in Manhattan.
