Piper Sandler, an American independent investment bank and financial services company, tapped longtime collaborator HLW to provide architecture and design services for the build-out of its new workspace in West Palm Beach, Florida. Relocating its New York City executives to the 10th floor of 222 Lakeview Avenue––a suite overlooking the stunning Palm Beach Intercoastal Waterway––Piper Sandler worked with HLW to localize the sophistication of the brand's corporate identity across the 6,000-square-foot footprint. 

Drawing inspiration from West Palm Beach's tones and textures, HLW embraced a scheme reminiscent of the surrounding environment, incorporating elements of wood, stone, terrazzo, and fiber materials paired with vibrant pops of blue and yellow, a true embodiment of the energetic, yet calm atmosphere of West Palm Beach. The bright, open-function reception space doubles as a lobby for Piper Sandler's new conferencing area––drawing activity throughout the day to the office's front-of-house zone to maintain the high-energy intent of the design strategy. A recessed ceiling feature creates further draw, connecting visitors entering the space with the lounge area. HLW's use of natural materials, curvilinear shapes, and high-end finishes strike a balance between approachable and elevated to complement the space's dual utility. 

Dedicated work areas are framed by perimeter offices––intended to provide consistency and a sense of place for relocating executives––establishing easy interdepartmental accessibility and efficiently uniting employees under one roof. Workstation benches and furnishing selections mirror those found in the firm's New York office, creating further continuity between the two locations. 

The West Palm Beach office marks the latest in a long-standing collaborative partnership between the two organizations, preceded by HLW’s interior fit out for Piper Sandler’s New York location in 2019 and the London office––first in 2012 and again in 2022. HLW was also been engaged in the company's Stamford, Connecticut office, completed in early 2023. Despite the various locations from which stakeholders have been based across each project, the Piper Sandler team has remained hands-on from conception to completion, allowing the design team to embrace the organization's goals through a locally inspired lens.
