About

Hiranshi recently completed her master’s in architecture degree from Penn State’s Stuckeman School. With a knack for research and design, she continues working as a research designer for Prof. Felicia Davis’s research for SOFTLAB, named the ‘Hair Salon Project.’ Initially, it was exhibited as the ‘Dreadlock Series’ as a part of the Venice Biennale 2023. This research explores the transformation of Black hair methods into novel construction materials, sparking meaningful conversations about Black identity, design, and systemic racism, utilizing a computer code inspired by dreadlocked knits to craft a durable textile with adaptable architectural spaces.

As commercial work experience, she has worked as a Lighting Designer using Artificial Lighting to communicate architecture. She created conceptual visual designs and integrated luminaire designs. She has experience with making working construction drawings, site inspections, and mockups. For the next steps, she will focus on landing a full-time position as an architectural designer alongside completing her licensure exams and certifications.
