A house in Switzerland: discreet design in combination with HI-MACS®

Simple lines, clear structures and plain shapes. Colour concept: White. This design characterises both the exterior and the interior of a detached house in Bronschhofen in Switzerland. So it seems only natural to find the modern HI-MACS® acrylic stone here. In a unique way, it combines design with practicality.

This west-facing massive residential construction located on a slight slope was designed by architects Egli & Partner who are based in Wil / Switzerland. It discreetly blends into the surrounding properties, while standing out due to its wide recessed window façade. It opens the house to the west, generously letting in the evening sun. The two-storey residential family residence with bright open rooms is dominated by pure simplicity. The outline is defined by straight lines and a concrete-element staircase located in the centre.

Shade of white: HI-MACS® Nordic White

The kitchen is extremely plain; only recognisable by the appliances: the oven and microwave are integrated into a white, seemingly closed wall. On second glance, the large surfaces of the ceiling-high and handle-free cupboard doors hiding the kitchen equipment catch the eye. A simple white block houses the sink and the ceramic hob, while dividing the large room. HI-MACS® was chosen for its worktop and panels as well as the handle profile around the appliances.

This solid surface material with its delicate feel and simplistic look perfectly complements the concept of this family home. Its Nordic White colour shade was chosen at the start of the project and determined the entire colour scheme of the interior. The non-porous acrylic stone not only impresses with its aesthetic qualities but is also very hygienic and barely requires any maintenance. Its seamless finish also meets the general demands of the builders. The entire house is covered with seamless floors. The same applies to the walls in the bathrooms. HI-MACS® can also be found here: in the modern washstand with its basin which is integrated into the shelf space which stretches from wall to wall.

Reto Broger of Keller Züberwangen AG, the company which designed the HI-MACS® elements: "We have been using the acrylic stone in interior fittings for years. We design kitchen elements, wash stands and much more. HI-MACS® facilitates an easy implementation of design. Also, our customers like its durability that proves outstanding, even if used heavily on a daily basis."
