This full house remodel of a Mid-Century home is a present day interpretation of what were the underlying design tenets of the original 1959 modern ranch house. The original home had outlived its last owner and was put out for an estate sale on the open market. Seeing that this home and it's site would have surely been demolished and replaced with a "McMansion" type multi-story home at the hands of another developer, two architecture firms came together to purchase the property and collaboratively bring new life to it by striking the perfect balance between respecting and recycling the original spirit and materials while bringing the home into the new millennium.
The plan was redesigned, using eco-friendly materials, reinforcing efficiency and indoor-outdoor flow. Natural and artificial lighting were blended to balance light throughout with daylight and fluorescent lighting. Translucent glowing sliding glass panels and integral color concrete expand the spaces with an informal elegance.
