This project is an entry for the competition “Castle Pinckney: Preservation as Provocation” by AIAS” to rethink the abandoned early 19th fort located on Shutes Folly Island in Charleston Harbor. Participants are expected to investigate how the preservation of this historically significant site can provoke a profound rethinking of our current conventions about preservation, design, community, the environment, and heritage tourism.
