About

I am an architect with experience from two very different schools of architecture, respectively in Oslo and Los Angeles.

I started my architectural studies the Oslo School of Architecture in 2008, in a school heavily influenced by its pioneers Christian Norberg-Schulz and Sverre Fehn. Its focus is mainly on technical, environmental and programmatic issues, as well as the relationship between architecture and nature.

I continued my architectural studies in the M.Arch 2 program at SCI-Arc in 2011, and was introduced to a very different and extremely exciting learning environment. This avant-garde school of architecture has a reputation for pushing the boundaries of academic study, in its pursue to change and evolve the discipline of architecture. As a student at SCI-Arc, you're constantly being pushed to the next level, with the guidance of world-class faculty.

With the experience from SCI-Arc, I went back to the Oslo School of Architecture to take myDiploma, and graduated in January 2014.

In 2010, me and two fellow students founded 120 HOURS - an architecture competition for students, by students. The competition was started as a response to the lack of competitive performance of Norwegian architecture students, the low interest to participate in the current architectural debate, and the lack of will to challenge conventions and limits through their important role as architecture students. The founders wanted to provide a new arena for discussion and new ideas, by creating a competition for students, completely independent from the schools of architecture. The competition format is based on providing students with 120 hours to solve a challenging and exciting task, let it be judged by a highly experienced and respected jury, and give the winners a solid cash prize.

The competition is now the world's biggest student-driven architecture competition, with thousands of participants from universities all over the world.

Hordfast, Oslo, NO, Architect and Graphic Designer

Hordfast is a road development project which is part of the larger E39 refurbishment project.

The objective of our team was to get political approval for a new and unexplored route for the stretch between Aksdal and Bergen. Our proposal involves 27 km of new road, with some of the most innovative bridge and tunnel solutions ever built. This includes Northern Europe's longest floating bridge. At first, the proposal met considerable opposition among politicians and the public opinion, but through systematic documentation and production of drawings, maps, charts and calculations we managed to get both politicians and the public on our side.

Our proposal was finally passed by Parliament on the 20th of December 2013.

Although this was not a typical architectural project (exept some conceptual bridge design), the process from idea to Parliament gave me an excellent experience in project management and process management. Flexibility, fast production and networking was key factors in reaching the final decision.
