Homeless Shelter

This project was to design a space for the less fortunate, the homeless and disabled veterans.

The project's design intent was to graphically demonstrate that our human nature is to lean on others for support and care.  Sometimes our lives are negatively affected and there comes a time when we need someone to help; some one to lean on; someone to show love.

Through the use of large modules and two nodes, the project lifts the residents above the ground and into a space which depends on it counterpoint.  Two main structures sandwich two additional, opposing segments, of which, are dependent on the multitude of columns.  Only two spaces of the project are touching the ground, the welcome entries.  The idea is to give relief to the day and the constant reminder of being disabled or homeless and allow the residents to have a space unlike any other in the city.
