A 107,000 square foot, 2-story elementary school administrative wing with counselors suite, teachers suite, full administrative offices, nurses station, and conference area. 5 classroom wings each consisting of restrooms and teacher’s workroom. Library, Cafetorium, Kitchen, Full Stage, separate covered car and bus drop-offs. The facility was designed to fit on a narrow site oriented east and west. The use of deep overhangs and interior solar screens help to reduce the solar gain. Being located in the middle of a residentially zoned neighborhood, we used vernacular forms and materials to fit within the adjacent architectural fabric. High efficiency chill water systems, LED lights, materials with high recycle content, and low flush plumbing fixtures all work towards a sustainable facility.
