A stark contrast from its surroundings, East 33rd in Kips Bay will rise 23-stories. After a successful re-zoning and ULURP led by GF55 Architects, the building will now double in height and floor area for development.

The latest rendering for this 150,000 SF building reveals a modern cantilevered design seemingly composed of multiple stacked cubes. Each box is distinguished by different rhythms of glass openings, metal panels, fins, and framing profiles. Positioned over the building base, dormers framed with beams and a large trellis change the cadence of the visual boxes, this time with voids for stepped roof terraces.

Located near the 33rd Street Station and several buildings that make up the NYU Medical Center complex, East 33rd will be a mixed-use, multi-residential building with 173 residential units.  Starting at the ground floor, the building will feature two stories of commercial property that will bring in more retail business to the neighborhood.
