F64 Cafe

The concept behind the F64 Cafe was the darkroom, the photo developing studio. The aim was to create a space that through its details and atmosphere would attract photography lovers and transport them to those periods from the beginning of photography. The bar area shows a number of details that refer to that process of developing photographs and to its rather hidden side, the substances used, the crowded work areas, that appear to be cold and technical. The architects altered and adjusted a series of photo studio lights and integrated them within the interior design as lighting objects.

With the exception of the chairs, the entire furniture used in the cafe is custom made, designed by Form Architecture Studio. They also recreated the obscure feel of the darkroom through the insertion of light and glass within the bar and the tables from the central axis. These elements create a cozy feel when the rest of the lights are dimmed. The high-tech items that pin the cafe into the present are the touch-screen tables located in the sitting areas.
