Jenny Heim, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, Fitwel Ambassador, has been elevated to the role of Sustainable Design Leader for McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture.

Since joining MPS two years ago, Jenny has played a key role in projects with ambitious sustainability goals, assisting clients with feasibility and budgeting, while guiding design teams toward sustainable solutions.  Her expertise in sustainability and passion for making a positive impact embody the firm’s commitment to stewardship and service.

As Sustainable Design Leader at McMillan Pazdan Smith, Jenny will collaborate with teams and projects in service to clients and communities across the MPS footprint. She will also lead, develop, and elevate the firm’s sustainability goals aligned with the AIA 2030 Commitment--an actionable climate strategy signed by MPS that provides a set of standards and goals for reaching net zero emissions in the built environment.

“Architects have incredible influence over the built environment, and with that, comes great responsibility,” Jenny says. “I’m excited to be part of rising to the challenge of lessening our impact while collaborating with our clients, communities, and industry partners in pursuit of design excellence.”

“This is an exciting step in our firm’s strategy to bring purposeful and impactful design solutions to our clients,” says Cary Perkins, Director of Design Engagement, “Jenny’s track record of leading efforts that marry specific project needs and priorities with concepts that benefit the greater good makes her a natural fit for this leadership role.”

Sustainability strategy and design integration has been a consistent focus of Jenny’s architecture career, following a B.Arch, Architecture from Penn State University and M.Arch, Architecture-Sustainable Design, from The University of Texas at Austin.

McMillan Pazdan Smith’s mission of creating meaningful and lasting impact for the good of all includes investing in people, data collection and design innovations that contribute to communities in positive, equitable and integrated ways.

MPS recently completed the Greenville Technical College’s Prisma Health Center for Health and Life Sciences, a building that earned two Green Globes for environmental performance, which includes being designed to use one-third less energy and water than other higher education buildings of its size.
