Two strategic hires pave the way to meet the demands of the growing healthcare market in San Diego.

(San Diego, CA) July 12, 2016 -- One of California’s largest sustainable design firms, LPA Inc., recently hired two significant leadership roles to its healthcare design studio in San Diego. Gigi Bainbridge has been hired as Project Director and Marcus Thorne as Senior Planner.

Since introducing healthcare design to its services in 2014, LPA has targeted projects primarily in the Orange County area. With the addition of Bainbridge and Thorne, the healthcare studio will be able to expand the community’s knowledge of the capabilities of LPA’s healthcare group to meet the demands of the industry in the growing San Diego marketplace.

Rick Wood, Principal of the Healthcare Studio at LPA, said, “Both Gigi and Marcus bring significant experience with many of the major San Diego healthcare systems and developed deep relationships that enhance value and local knowledge.”

Bainbridge and Thorne both bring more than 35 years of healthcare experience. The day-to-day responsibilities of Bainbridge and Thorne blend seamlessly together as they lead the design direction based on the client’s vision, goals, budget and schedule constraints. Each is specifically gifted at healthcare design thought leadership, blended to practical real world project solutions.

Dave Gilmore, Principal of LPA San Diego, stated, “We’re excited to welcome both Gigi and Marcus to the LPA San Diego team. Their expertise combined with their deep knowledge of the San Diego region will provide great opportunity to create a strong presence of LPA’s involvement in healthcare design.”

A few of Bainbridge’s past clients include many of the major healthcare organizations in Southern California, including Sharp Healthcare, Scripps Health and University of California at San Diego. She has taken leadership roles in the planning and execution of multiple healthcare projects forming qualified and skilled design teams, coordinating budgets, schedules and staffing while working with clients to ensure smooth project delivery and operations during the construction process.

Thorne specializes in healthcare planning and design experience. His diverse healthcare design experience includes full replacement facilities of 500,000 square feet to outpatient clinics of 20,000 square feet. Thorne’s experience ranges from facility master planning through project implementation, design and construction. He is passionate about design and how it improves the patient experience by increasing the well-being of the patient and increasing the efficiency of the staff.

“LPA is qualified to provide our clients an integrated approach to healthcare design and execution,” added Gilmore. “We are finding that our clients are seeking patient environments that promote wellness with amenity-rich facilities that are characteristic of the San Diego region.”
