New York, NY
"I have few hours to get better…. so I can have the energy to walk up to the stage to receive my FAIA medallion..
Any quick fixes advise? (I have a fever and body aches)
Not a good timing… but that seems to be the story of my career and I guess it is only natural that it shows on the day of receiving this honor. :))))
I tried very hard to be well prepared and finish all my deadlines so I can have a peaceful time and enjoy the festivities leading to my elevation.
Being elevated for FAIA is a great honor and especially that I got elevated in the most difficult category which is Design..
I got nominated by my chapter (AIA New York). All is quite symbolic and meaningful to me..
I planned everything so the day would be easy with no pressures from my Middle East projects since it is Eid Holiday there.
Then an urgent call from a client to solve a new situation that emerged on one of the projects (crisis mode) and here I am working in the middle of the night in my hotel room, on the plane, on the train strategizing, sketching and testing to find solutions.
Maybe it is only reasonable to be reminded on this day that it was never easy. I have always been super responsible, committed, loyal to my clients and never accepted anything less than delivering my best.
I am hoping once I get to the stage and be given the medallion….I will feel great despite my aching body.. :)
Big Thanks to all the people who have been part of my journey and have contributed one way or another for me receiving this greatest honor <3" -Raya Ani
