Body Lawson Associates, an acclaimed architecture, interiors and urban design practice founded in 1993 and operating in the United States and globally, has announced its roles in a number of new building projects.

A noted leader in responsive, collaborative community solutions and an emerging design signature, Body Lawson Associates Architects and Planners (BLA) is helmed by architect Victor Body-Lawson, AIA, recognized for his ability to “empower people in under-resourced communities through their public spaces and buildings."

Also active in historic preservation and interior design, BLA has worked internationally on high-profile projects in multifamily housing, religious and commercial buildings, and recreational and health facilities. Led by Body-Lawson — also an accomplished artist and visiting critic at Yale and Columbia — this certified MBE is behind such works as the 740-unit affordable mixed-use campus, The Peninsula, and the acclaimed Home Street Residences, along with many others.

Among BLA’s newest projects is Marcus Garvey Village, a 19-story housing development with 169 units of affordable housing in a dedicated new building not far from the firm headquarters in Manhattan’s Harlem, in partnership with Fischer + Makooi Architects. On other works, BLA is a sought-after collaborator who has worked with colleagues Renzo Piano Workshop, David Brody Bond, and WXY architecture + urban design.

From his groundbreaking Erobograph Apartments to his new and promising works in the Bronx, Baltimore and Accra, Ghana, Victor Body-Lawson offers an insightful perspective and a laboratory for equitable development in cities. He also brings experience as a real estate developer, a jury member and teacher, and as a proponent of the National Organization of Minority Architects.
