Healthcare Real Estate Insights magazine announced the finalists for the 2015 HREI Insights Awards, the only national awards dedicated to recognizing excellence in the areas of healthcare real estate development and executive leadership. One of our projects, Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach, was a finalist in the Best Renovation or Repurposed Healthcare Facility category.
Hoag Medical Group had adopted the concept of collaborative care as their strategy for successfully managing population health, improving quality of care, and managing costs. To develop a new culture of care, they worked with the project team to design a facility that embodied their operational concept. This meant a shift away from traditional medical office and clinic design to one that fostered communication, flexibility, and collaboration.
The first iteration of this new design approach was implemented in a 55,500 s.f. new medical office building, representing Hoag’s first free‐standing ambulatory care center designed to fully accommodate the collaborative care approach. The project team renovated 16,000 s.f. of a 52,000 s.f. existing clinic unifying the two buildings on the Hoag campus.
This campus is the first healthcare building in the city of Huntington Beach to receive LEED Silver certification.
