Aedas wins Asia’s Top Design Practices and SG Mark at DesignS Gala Dinner and Awards Night

It was a fruitful night for Aedas last Friday (13 March 2015) at the DesignS Gala Dinner and Awards Night. Aedas was named Asia’s Top Design Practices for Singapore Design Awards 2015. In addition, its design concept for The Venue Residences and Shoppes in Singapore, for developer City Developments Limited (CDL), received SG Mark for Singapore Good Design Mark 2015.

“Both awards reaffirm Aedas’ ethos of understanding the social and cultural nuances of the communities we design for in order to create great design,” said Tony Ang, Global Board Director of Aedas. “We will continue to deliver quality projects to our clients and users.”

The Venue Residences and Shoppes is located on the fringe of downtown Singapore at Tai Thong Crescent and the project aims to reinvigorate the nostalgic charm of its original shophouse estate with a vibrant, contemporary twist. A distinctive two-tiered high and low-rise zone creates visual connectivity and seamless mobility to its surrounding. The residential apartments include four 18-storey tower blocks and a block of six pool side duplex units arranged along the boundaries of the site for optimal visibility and minimised overlooking. Sky terraces provide lush greeneries and breathing space for the residence with easy access from the fifth and twelfth storey.

The Singapore Design Awards honours outstanding designers, design students and design practices from across the world and it remains the leading design award in Southeast Asia. First conceived in 1988 and unveiled by then Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the first Singapore International Design Forum, it was an initiative led by the Designers Association Singapore (now Design Business Chamber Singapore) and the Trade Development Board (now IESingapore).

The Singapore Good Design Mark was officially launched on 29 October 2013 by Design Business Chamber Singapore with the support of DesignSingapore Council at the new National Design Centre. With the aspiration of positioning Singapore as a premiere design hub, the organisations envision the Mark serving as a universal endorsement of products and services that embody good design.
