Designed by Global Design Principal Dr Andy Wen, Lè Architecture in Taipei, Taiwan, received the prestigious International Architecture Awards 2019 given by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

Lè Architecture in the Nangang district of Taipei is set to redefine Taipei’s rapidly developing skyline. Its design drew inspiration from the shape of the river pebbles along the Keelung River, developing a unique aesthetic concept that conveys the idea of roundness and elegance, as well as strength and character. The building's egg-like shape implies it is an incubator of knowledge and a metaphor of intellectual revival, which integrates well with the local context and marks an important milestone in the revitalisation of the fast-emerging Nangang district.

Lè Architecture aims to provide efficient,
interactive and healthy office spaces. The 'urban living rooms' offer
span-leveled communal areas including pantries, cafes, libraries and breakout
areas to create a comfortable and inspiring work environment. These semi-open
areas also connect the indoor / outdoor environment.

The project adopts a sustainable and green design with the use of the latest analytical, modeling and simulation software. The 70-metre tall, west-facing green façade provides sufficient shading and reduces heat gain, effectively lowering the temperature of the interiors. The plants also act as air filters. Vertical aluminum fins in specific distance and depth also control the amount of sunlight streaming through the windows.

The International Architecture Awards are the highest and most prestigious distinguished building award programme that honours new and cutting-edge design. This annual programme, organised by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, also promotes international architecture and design to the global public audience. The programme has become the most significant and most comprehensive distinguished international awards programme in the world. The award winners were selected by a distinguished group of American architects and educators.
