SMAQ wins 1st prize in urban-architectural competition “Alte Doehrener Strasse” for housing development in the city of Hannover in Germany. The proposal consists of an ensemble of two buildings made from four compact cubic volumes that are partially interlinked.
The volumes thus formulate an forecourt towards the cityside and open courtyards towards the seaside.
The structure allows for great flexibility in the subdivision of the apartments.
As proposed the larger building houses 54 rentable apartments and the other 12 sellable apartments together with a floor area of 5.850 m².
The facades are proposed in brick as typical for Hannover in general and especially for the buildings in the surrounding expressing the structural grid of the building. Construction shall start in fall 2015.
