During the past nine years, Lightyears has supplied the Danish and international markets with design lamps for both professional interior decorations and private homes. The collection, the number of dealers and the sales have increased steadily, which has triggered a need for a permanent showroom in Copenhagen where the entire collection is displayed.

The new Lightyears showroom is placed in Carlsberg City District – a unique part of the city that used to belong entirely to the Danish brewing company Carlsberg. In fact, these premises were formerly used in the brewing process and the showroom itself still goes by the name ’the CO2 room’. This industrial, high-ceilinged room measures 335m2, but with more than 8 meters from floor to ceiling, the sense of spaciousness is much larger. The building is listed and thus, all the Lightyears lamps now light up various old installations and filters as well as a 50 tons large container suspended from the ceiling.

”We find the facilities nothing less than exceptional, and we haven’t seen anything similar here in Denmark”, says Lars Østergaard Olsen, Managing Director (48). ”The CO2 room contains elements of 160 years’ Danish brewery history and oozes an evident authenticity that brings heart and soul to the atmosphere. In addition, the choice of location is based on a forward-looking vision, as the Carlsberg City District will bloom culturally and architecturally over the next 15 years. Lightyears is very excited to be part of that development”, concludes Lars Østergaard Olsen.

A showroom in Copenhagen also allows Lightyears to participate in various cultural events where private individuals can get the chance to visit the extraordinary premises and see the entire collection of lamps. Other visits can be facilitated by appointment.
