MKPL Architects led the team in winning the two concept proposals for the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and the Housing Parcel Proposal at Choa Chu Kang. 

MKPL Architects as the Lead Architect, with Turenscape as the Lead Landscape Architect, together with their team comprising of Purcell Asia Pacific Ltd, Culture and Development Consultancy Ltd, KTP Consultants Pte Ltd, DHI Water & Environment (S) Pte Ltd, Arborculture Pte Ltd and Langdon and Seah Singapore Pte Ltd, is one of the five teams shortlisted by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore back in 20 May 2015 from a total of sixty four teams for the second stage of the ‘Rail Corridor – An Inspired and Extraordinary Community Space’ Request for Proposal (RFP).  The other four teams shortlisted are:

• West 8 (Netherlands) and DP Architects (Singapore)
• Grant Associates (Singapore/UK), MVRDV (Netherlands) and Architects 61 (Singapore)
• Nikken Sekkei (Japan) and Tierra Design (Singapore)
• Olin Partnership (US), OMA Asia (Hong Kong) and DP Architects (Singapore)

In this stage of the competition the teams were required to draw up a master plan for the twenty four kilometers long Rail Corridor that runs through the island of Singapore from the South to the North.  Besides the master plan, the teams also had to work on two detail concept proposals for the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and a land parcel at Choa Chu Kang, earmarked for high density affordable housing, which the Rail Corridor passes through.  

The Rail Corridor has the extraordinary potential of becoming a truly seminal and transformative project for Singapore, hence our excitement that our vision for these two very important projects may be soon adopted!
