(WASHINGTON – July 5, 2011) LEO A DALY is providing the master plan and concept design for Aegean Breeze at Alaçati, a five-star, contemporary beach destination resort that will break ground on the western coast of Turkey this year, with a grand opening planned in summer 2012.
The concept design includes three main components: a large-scale marine park with state-of-the-art pools and refreshment areas; an 80-room boutique luxury hotel featuring retail, restaurants and a thermal spa; and 120 beach villas situated in a private enclave for long-term residents. Several expansive tensile fabric roofs create an identity for the resort while providing shade and visual impact for visitors throughout its public spaces.
LEO A DALY, an international architecture, planning, engineering and interior design firm, partnered with the project client, Tek-Arts Ins. Tic. Tur. San. Ve Yat. A.S., and local architect Yavuzlar Proje to envision plans for the 81,000-square-meter (20-acre) site.
“Inspired by the breezes of the Aegean Sea, the motion of gulls in flight and the natural patterns of the landscape, the design captures the spirit of the region’s sailing and surfing culture, as well as creates a level of intimacy and class intended to attract tourists from across the world,” said Walt Geiger, AIA, LEO A DALY director of design.
Alaçati, an up-and-coming vacation hotspot, is located 77 kilometers (48 miles) from the city of Izmir, Turkey, and 23 kilometers (14 miles) from Chios, Greece. The marine park and resort are designed to attract daily visitors and tour groups, as well as long-term guests. Amenities at Aegean Breeze at Alaçati will include:
