MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- archimania broke ground Tuesday, July 14, on its new office, which will use solar panels to produce more energy than it consumes, joining the small handful of other Net-Zero Energy buildings in the US and making it the first privately-owned building of its kind not only in Memphis but also in Tennessee.

Tuesday morning's ceremony was the culmination of years of hard work to further our role as a leading force for progressive and sustainable design. The 5,000 square foot office building will also be the first building to be designed, owned, and occupied by an architecture and development firm in downtown Memphis.

With this project, we are living our commitment to sustainable design by making a physical and financial statement, as archimania ends its dependence on fossil fuels. We in turn bring that passion and dedication to our clients and their projects, providing the framework for a cleaner, healthier world.

"I’m very proud of the fact that we’ve got this initiative taking place right here in downtown Memphis. It’ll be, I think, a trademark for archimania, but I think it’ll also be a great symbol for the city of Memphis and Shelby County and what we are doing to try to be more sustainable, to be more progressive, and really honoring our natural resources," Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell said during his speech at the ceremony.

The development will also include a public art and education plaza, game yard, vegetable garden, fruit trees, and housing, helping activate a critical intersection of the new Main-to-Main corridor.

We are proud to be part of the larger solution to reducing our carbon footprint, one building at a time.

Design is the answer. Our new office takes us all one step closer.
