Jackson, MS – February 22, 2019– Roy Decker, principal of Duvall Decker Architects, a Jackson, MS architectural firm, been elevated to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows. Elevation to the College status is awarded by a jury of peers and recognizes achievements of national significance in advancing the architectural profession. Roy Decker was granted Fellowship in the category of Design, which is granted to architects who have produced distinguished bodies of work through design.
The 2019 AIA Jury of Fellows elevated 115 members out of a total membership of more than 94,000. Only 3% of members have been distinguished with elevation to fellowship nationally. Roy is the only member from Mississippi to be elevated this year. The newly elected Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2019 National AIA Convention in Las Vegas on June 7.
Roy Decker founded Duvall Decker in 1998 with his partner, Anne Marie Duvall Decker, to foster Public Good in and beyond the lot lines of each project. Throughout his career, Roy has been a teacher, community leader, and practitioner. He regularly gives presentations and lectures on the firm’s design and planning work and is regarded as a multi-disciplinary contributor to advancing issues such as public housing, community planning, and design. In 2017 the firm was distinguished as one of the New York Architectural League’s Emerging Voices. The firm’s work has been featured in such publications as The New York Times and Metropolis and has garnered numerous national and state design awards.
