Groundbreaking Ceremony for New US Courthouse in Greenville, Mississippi

Duvall Decker is pleased to announce that the construction groundbreaking ceremony for the New US Courthouse in Greenville, Mississippi is scheduled for August 26, 2022. The project, part of the GSA Design Excellence Program, is led by Jackson, Mississippi-based architectural firm Duvall Decker Architects. The co-lead designers are Roy T. Decker, FAIA of Duvall Decker, and Steve Dumez, FAIA of Eskew Dumez Ripple. The construction contract was awarded to Robins & Morton. The design team includes Eskew Dumez Ripple, Dewberry Architects with Michael LeBoeuf, FAIA, Engineering Resource Group, Inc., Walter P. Moore, Newcomb & Boyd, W.L. Burle Engineers, Andropogon, M.A.+ Associates, and the late Michael Fazio Ph.D.

A New US Courthouse in Greenville, Mississippi, totaling 55,635 gross square feet, will house two courtrooms: one District and one Magistrate. Tenant agencies will include the United States Marshals Services, United States Probation Office, and GSA’s Public Buildings Service with trial prep space for the Federal Public Defender and United States Attorney’s Office.

The US Courthouse design aspires to establish a meaningful structure that links the court’s federal importance with the social, economic, and political history of Greenville, Mississippi in a form that is progressive and educational. 

The project has been an ongoing partnership between GSA, the U.S. Courts, elected officials, and the community of Greenville. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.
