New Student Living

A well executed project that we designed and led in our previous studio now complete and fully occupied.

"Heriot-Watt Universities Riccarton campus is composed of massive, masonry walled elevations facing directly onto open countryside, identifiable from a distance as a modern interpretation of a castle or fort. This walled architecture opens up at the corners to reveal a courtyard garden environment.

A total of 300 new student rooms have been delivered by the project ranging from self-catered study bedrooms with en-suites through to flatted accommodation with up to five rooms sharing a living space and studio flats.

The new campus accommodation is testament to an ambitious client who has understood that an exceptional student experience extends beyond faculty life to also encompass the whole student lifestyle. The architecture of the project sets a new standard in student living at a time when much of what is currently being delivered for students is being heavily criticised for being completely banal and opportunist.”
