Julia Nelson Joins SCB as Director of Interiors

CHICAGO (October 2016) — Award-winning architecture, interior design, and planning firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) is pleased to announce that Julia Nelson has joined SCB’s San Francisco office as Director of Interiors.

Julia is a registered architect with over 20 years of experience in interior design. In her new role with SCB, Julia will focus on expanding the firm's presence and practice in the west coast interiors market across the workplace, multi-family residential, and higher education sectors.

“Julia brings valuable team building experience to SCB,” said Chris Pemberton, Principal and Director of SCB San Francisco. “Her strong understanding of the interior design industry and leadership as a studio leader make her a great fit for this role.”

Most recently, Julia was a senior project manager at Gensler San Francisco where she focused on international corporate interiors work. In addition to her 13 years of design experience in San Francisco, she spent a number of years in Asia, where she worked on residential and commercial projects.

“Over the past several years, I have admired SCB Interiors and the talented team that has come together under new leadership,” Julia said. “I am excited to work with such a diverse and spirited group of designers. I feel a strong connection to the firm’s design aspirations and commitment to providing both substance and innovation in our work.”

Julia holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon.
