RICHMOND, Va. (March 12, 2014) – Baskervill is excited to announce its selection as the prototype architect for Marriott International's new AC Hotels flag adaptation for the U.S. and Canadian market.

First announced by Marriott in June 2013, AC Hotels by Marriott is a collaboration between Marriott and Spanish AC Hotels which currently has 79 locations in Spain, Italy, Portugal, and France. Looking to gain a larger market share of younger tech- and design-savvy travelers, the brand is meant to appeal to Millenials in an urban environment. The first AC Hotels by Marriott is expected to open in the United States by the end of 2014.

Modern aesthetics, technology-integrated conveniences, and opportunities for unique, location-driven design elements are the focus of the prototype design for this select-service brand, which includes guestroom and public space concepts. Baskervill is working closely with Marriott to strike the desired balance of form and function that offers a nod to sleek European sensibility and today's ever-connected traveler. Baskervill also currently maintains the prototype drawing for the Courtyard by Marriott brand. Design work for AC Hotels is currently underway.
